Termination of the contract with Igor Jovićević
The Polish club Widzew has officially terminated contracts with coach Igor Jovićević and his coaching staff. This decision was made by mutual consent of the parties, which included assistants Yuriy Benyo, Andriy Khanas, and Javier Lobo. Igor Jovićević has been leading the team since October 2025, but in March the club decided to relieve him of his duties as head coach. Currently, Widzew is in 13th place in the Polish Ekstraklasa standings.
Negotiations with the Ukrainian Football Association
At the same time, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) was considering the possibility of appointing Igor Jovićević as the head coach of the Ukraine national team. Although contacts between UAF and Jovićević took place, negotiations did not reach the final stage. One of the reasons for the collapse of the negotiations was legal issues related to Jovićević's previous work at Widzew. In addition, the coach's financial expectations turned out to be higher than UAF's offers, which did not meet the conditions received by the previous coach Serhiy Rebrov.
Currently, according to information, Italian specialist Andrea Maldera is expected to become the head coach of the Ukraine national team in the near future.
