Attack Suspects Identified and Arrested

Law enforcement has identified and detained those responsible for an assault on military personnel in Lviv's Sykhiv district. The confrontation occurred on July 8 along Chervonoyi Kalyny Avenue, where roughly 200 civilians blocked, damaged, and overturned an official military vehicle. During the incident, one individual attacked the deputy head of the district police department, causing him bodily harm. The investigation remains ongoing, and several suspects have already been taken into custody.

Official Reactions from State Leaders

Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, commented on the situation, stating:

“Those involved in the attack on servicemen in Sykhiv have been identified. Several of them have already been detained. I thank law enforcement for their prompt work.” - Maksym Kozytskyi

He further emphasized that “everyone whose actions crossed legal boundaries will receive a proper legal assessment.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the incident, declaring:

“In my view, this is a very bad situation. And treating people in military uniform this way is completely unacceptable.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

He added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs would handle the matter in accordance with current legislation, while the Ministry of Defense must fulfill all its commitments.

Military Ombudsperson Olha Reshetylova also weighed in, noting that “responsibility for conflicts between military and civilians lies with the government, military-political leadership, and local authorities.” The Ministry of Defense, for its part, stressed that the only party benefiting from such situations is the enemy.
