16 Killed in Dnipro Strike, Including Children: Latest Updates

Трагічний інцидент у Дніпрі: незабутня втрата життів, серед яких — діти.

Tragedy Strikes Dnipro

Patrol police have released footage showing their response to Russian strikes on Dnipro that claimed 16 lives, among them two children. Another 42 individuals sustained injuries, including four minors. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure came under fire. Patrol units were among the first to arrive at impact sites, actively evacuating residents and assisting rescue workers and volunteers.

Mayor’s Statement

Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov has accused Russia of using cluster munitions. According to him,

“the nature of damage to infrastructure and people clearly indicates Russia’s deliberate use of cluster weapons to maximize civilian and rescuer casualties.”
Among the deceased is Major Anton Yarmolenko of the State Emergency Service, who was killed during a secondary strike while responding to the initial call.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing. In response to the tragedy, June 3, 2026, has been declared a day of mourning in Dnipro. The patrol police video, shared on Facebook, allows a wider audience to witness the aftermath of these horrific events.

This incident underscores the humanitarian toll of the armed conflict, where civilians continue to suffer. The reported use of cluster munitions has sparked international outrage and could reignite discussions on tightening sanctions against Russia. Ensuring the safety of rescue teams and civilians during such attacks remains critical, as they are frequently targeted in combat zones.

The tragic events in Dnipro are not isolated; just days earlier, another strike had already claimed 12 lives, including two children. This pattern of attacks raises serious concerns about the safety of civilians in the region.
