Important events of January 2 in Ukraine
On January 2, a number of important events took place in Ukraine, including the strike on Kharkiv, changes in the leadership of the Office of the President and the Main Intelligence Directorate, as well as the start of the forced evacuation of children from frontline areas. The Russian army struck the center of Kharkiv, resulting in 31 casualties, including one child - an infant. 12 people were rescued.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed decrees appointing new leaders of the Office of the President and the Main Intelligence Directorate. In particular, Kyrylo Budanov and Oleg Ivashchenko received new positions. Serhiy Deyneko will continue his work within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Forced evacuation and new legal measures
Additionally, the forced evacuation of over 3,000 children from 44 frontline areas of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions has begun. These measures are being carried out in light of threats to safety in the regions. Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense announced the start of a special legal regime called Defence City, which has officially come into effect. These events highlight the ongoing tension in Ukraine and the efforts of the authorities to protect the population.
