Hostile strikes on the bridge on the Odesa-Reni highway

The Odesa highway has become a target for enemy attacks near the village of Mayaki, leading to partial traffic restrictions. However, according to the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleg Kiper, traffic is not completely blocked.

During a briefing on December 19, the official reported that there had been over 500 attacks on the region in the past week, including the use of drones and rockets, reports 'Glavcom'.

Government measures to ensure stability

Kiper emphasized that the shelling of highways aims to provoke logistical difficulties and incite public outrage. Medical assistance has been provided to all affected. To ensure stability, the authorities of Odesa region have already introduced alternative routes coordinated with the Armed Forces and agreed on assistance from the government of Moldova for passengers heading abroad. Additionally, supplies of food, pensions, and cash to blocked areas have begun.

Government actions to eliminate the consequences of the shelling

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the government is quickly eliminating the consequences of the shelling of the bridge connecting Odesa with Izmail. The main measures include:

  • expansion of railway connections and simplification of conditions for bus transportation;

  • fuel price control and the functioning of the banking system;

  • creating conditions for the uninterrupted operation of enterprises in the region.

The coordination of restoring communications and humanitarian support has been entrusted to Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba.

On December 19, traffic on the M-15 Odesa-Reni highway in Mayaki was stopped due to the attack. Access through some border crossing points with Moldova is restricted due to the aerial threat.

Summary:
As a result of the shelling of the bridge on the Odesa-Reni highway and other attacks aimed at creating chaos, the regional government is acting quickly and coordinated to ensure road safety, humanitarian assistance to the affected, and eliminate the consequences of hostile attacks.
