The Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar and the Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto appealed to the European Commission demanding to ensure the energy security of their countries. According to them, disruptions following the attacks on the pipeline will last at least five days, which may threaten oil supplies.
“In this statement, the Commission stated that it is ready to protect our critical energy infrastructure, part of which are pipelines, so we consider it absolutely necessary for the EU to defend the interests of member states and the energy security of its citizens, including the citizens of the Slovak Republic. Any threat to the energy security of our country is unacceptable,” said Juraj Blanar.
It should be noted that the Druzhba oil pumping station in the Bryansk region was attacked by drones, which led to the suspension of oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline. The Hungarian minister noted that after the strikes on the pipeline, Hungary temporarily suspended oil imports from the Russian Federation, but supplies have already been resumed.
Hungary and Slovakia are concerned about the situation regarding the suspension of oil supplies due to the attack on the pipeline and demand action from the European Commission to ensure the energy security of their countries.
