Drone Attack Targets Russian Frigate and Drilling Rig in Novorossiysk Port

Вражеский удар безпілотників вражає російський військовий корабель та бурові установки в порту Новоросійськ.

Strikes on Russian Federation Assets

On the night of April 6, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched a strike against Russian assets in the port of Novorossiysk. According to the General Staff, the attack successfully hit the frigate 'Admiral Grigorovich' and the drilling rig 'Sivash'. This operation forms part of broader military efforts to degrade Russia's military presence in the Black Sea region, a strategic waterway of critical importance.

The 'Admiral Grigorovich' is one of the Russian Black Sea Fleet's most advanced vessels, known for carrying 'Kalibr'-type cruise missiles. The 'Sivash' drilling rig is used by Russian forces for logistical or resource purposes, highlighting the strategic value of these targets. Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Robert Brovdi, call sign 'Madjar', stated:

"In the port of Novorossiysk on the night of April 6, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich and the drilling rig Sivash came under attack."

Escalation of Military Activity

In addition to the Novorossiysk strike, a large-scale fire was reported at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School (MVZKU), indicating an intensification of military activity across multiple fronts.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukrainian border guards destroyed Russian military equipment valued at approximately $28 million. During the night of April 4-5, three multiple launch rocket systems were struck: two 'Grad' systems and one 'Uragan'. A 'Zoopark' counter-battery radar system, a key component of Russian military infrastructure, was also destroyed.

These events underscore the proactive stance of Ukrainian forces in countering Russian aggression and their capability to execute precise strikes against high-value targets. The operations demonstrate Ukraine's continued strategic pressure on Russian military resources, which could significantly impact the broader conflict. The destruction of critical assets like a major warship and a drilling rig shows Ukraine's ability not only to defend its territory but also to project force against the enemy, potentially signaling an enhanced readiness to respond to Russian threats.

The recent strike in Novorossiysk is part of a broader pattern of Ukrainian operations targeting Russian assets. In a similar context, Ukraine has also aimed at critical economic infrastructures, such as oil refineries, which play a vital role in sustaining Russia's economy. This highlights the strategic approach of Ukrainian forces in disrupting logistical and economic lifelines.
