Deadly Strike on Iranian School

A strike on an elementary school in Iran on February 28 resulted in the deaths of at least 168 children and 14 teachers, provoking a sharp international outcry. U.S. President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blamed Iran for the attack, asserting the regime was responsible for targeting civilians.

"Based on what I have seen, Iran did this," Trump stated, emphasizing the U.S. readiness to act.
This incident is part of a long-standing, tense confrontation between Iran and Western powers over its regional activities and nuclear program.

International Fallout and Escalating Tensions

Evidence from satellite imagery, geolocated videos, expert analysis, and U.S. official statements indicates the Shajare Tayyeb elementary school in Minab was shelled that day. The White House had previously not ruled out the possibility that the strike was carried out by American military personnel. Following the attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the start of a preemptive strike against Iran, after which a series of explosions were reported in Tehran.

The school attack occurred after repeated warnings from the U.S. and Israel about new strikes if Iran continued its nuclear and missile programs. Trump noted that

"the U.S. goal is to protect the American people by eliminating the immediate threat from the Iranian regime."
In turn, Pete Hegseth stressed: "The only party attacking civilians is Iran." These events have raised serious concerns about a further escalation of conflict in the region.

The tragedy has triggered a new wave of criticism toward Iran from Western nations, which believe the Tehran regime is responsible for destabilizing the region. Given the widespread international resonance, a potential further deterioration of the situation could lead to new military conflicts, as the U.S. and Israel underscore their readiness to act in response to threats from Iran. These developments could have severe consequences for regional security and international relations as a whole.
