Strike on Voronezh Plant Kills Five in Ukrainian Military Operation

Трагічний випадок на заводі у Воронежі забрав життя п’яти осіб внаслідок української військової акції.

Deadly Ukrainian Missile Attack Claims Lives at Industrial Site

Alexander Gusev, governor of Russia’s Voronezh Region, confirmed that five people died when Ukrainian forces struck the Voronezh Semiconductor Devices Plant with missiles on June 22. The attack, carried out by units of the Ukrainian Air Force, targeted a facility that produces electronic components for missile systems and air defense equipment.

Infrastructure Damage and the Plant’s Strategic Role

Located on the left bank of Voronezh, the plant specializes in manufacturing electronics for Iskander missiles, Pantsir-S1 systems, and Kh-101 cruise missiles. The strike caused damage to:

  • 10 apartment buildings
  • 6 private homes
  • about 50 vehicles

A fire at the site was extinguished by 4:30 PM, but debris removal efforts are still ongoing.

It is worth noting that this facility—which also produced transistor assemblies and matrices for Kh-101 cruise missile blocks, as well as semiconductor matrices for the Zarya-61M onboard digital computers used in 9M727 missiles of the Iskander-K system—has been listed under US and EU sanctions. This is not the first time the plant has come under fire: in 2025, Ukrainian drones attacked it, leading to a reported fire in the vicinity.

As of June 2026, at least one prior strike on the plant has been confirmed, underscoring the facility’s importance in the ongoing conflict. The Voronezh Semiconductor Devices Plant continues to play a key role in producing electronic components for military systems, including the Pantsir-S1 complexes, 9M727 Iskander-K missiles, and Kh-101 cruise missiles.

This attack highlights the tense situation on the front lines and the critical nature of industrial sites involved in military technology production.

Given the repeated strikes on this plant, it is clear that such facilities remain targets in the conflict, as their output is strategically vital to Russia’s defense capabilities. Events surrounding the plant could shape the conflict’s trajectory and influence international relations in the region.

The ongoing conflict has seen multiple strikes on key industrial sites, highlighting the strategic significance of these facilities in military operations. For instance, the recent attack on the Sbornika plant illustrates how Ukraine continues to target microelectronics essential for Russian missile systems, further escalating the tensions in the region.
