Strike Hits Novobavarsky District of Kharkiv

On May 7, Russian occupation forces used a Shahed-type drone to attack the Novobavarsky district of Kharkiv. The impact ignited a fire that broke out in a private residential property. The strike targeted a residential area, causing extensive damage to buildings. As of 12:00 PM, nine people have been reported injured, including three children.

A 70-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction and received on-site medical assistance. Among the wounded are also a 15-year-old girl and a 7-year-old girl, who likewise received medical care. By 11:50 AM, the number of casualties had risen to seven. According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, a fire was recorded at the impact site, and there are casualties; their exact number and condition are still being determined.

Aftermath of the Hostile Attack

The enemy strike damaged 38 private homes. All emergency services are on the scene, with State Emergency Service rescuers arriving promptly to extinguish the blaze. Investigative teams and forensic experts are also working at the site.

It should be noted that a silence regime came into effect across Ukraine starting at midnight on May 6, in response to Kremlin claims of a so-called ceasefire for May 8-9. Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Administration, provided an update on the situation:

“As a result of the enemy strike on the Novobavarsky district, a 70-year-old woman was injured. She suffered an acute stress reaction and received medical assistance on site.” - Oleh Syniehubov

This incident once again highlights the tense situation in the region and the danger that military actions pose to civilians.

The attack on Kharkiv's Novobavarsky district underscores how hostilities continue to threaten the lives of peaceful residents, despite the declared silence regime. This event emphasizes the need to ensure civilian safety amid a prolonged conflict, as well as the importance of rapid emergency response in such situations. With children among the injured, it raises particular concern about the war’s impact on the most vulnerable segments of the population.

This recent attack is not an isolated incident; just days prior, another drone strike in Kharkiv resulted in multiple injuries and significant damage, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by military actions in civilian areas. The situation remains precarious as authorities work to assess the full extent of the damage and provide aid to those affected.
