UEFA postpones suspension of Israel: the reason cited is Trump's plan

UEFA has decided to postpone the vote on the suspension of Israeli teams from participating in tournaments while US President Donald Trump attempts to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip. According to Sky News, the decision was made after Trump announced a peace plan for the Gaza Strip.



According to preliminary data, the European Football Association was supposed to vote on the suspension of Israeli teams from participating in tournaments. However, due to the proposed peace plan from Trump, they decided to postpone this issue during the negotiations between Israel and Hamas.



Sky News notes that there is currently a sentiment among European football leaders that imposing sports sanctions against Israel in the midst of peace negotiations would be an inappropriate step.


It is worth recalling that the US president presented a peace plan for the Gaza Strip, and the White House published a document containing 20 main points aimed at ending hostilities and ensuring peace in the region.



UEFA decided to postpone the vote on the suspension of Israeli teams from participating in tournaments in connection with the publication of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip by US President Donald Trump. European football leaders believe that imposing sports sanctions against Israel during peace negotiations would be unfair. Thus, the issue of suspending teams from participating in tournaments is postponed indefinitely.
