Official Condemnation of the Kyiv Attack

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Orbán, has publicly denounced Russia’s combined overnight assault on Kyiv, which took place on May 24. The large-scale attack caused significant damage to multiple sites in Ukraine’s capital, including:

  • the Cabinet of Ministers building,
  • two residential complexes near the U.S. Embassy,
  • a market in the Lukianivka district,
  • the Embassy of Azerbaijan,
  • the National Art Museum and the Chornobyl Museum.

According to reports, the blast wave shattered windows in the Cabinet of Ministers building. Two housing estates in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district—'Zelenyi Ostriv-1' and 'Zelenyi Ostriv-2'—also sustained damage. In total, over 50 locations across Kyiv were affected, including the Lukianivka market and the National Art Museum.

'Russia’s brutal nighttime assault on Kyiv is yet another horrifying reminder of the human cost of this war. Civilians should never have to wake up to missiles, drones, explosions, and fear for their lives.' Anita Orbán

The minister further emphasized that 'destroyed homes, broken families, and innocent people killed or wounded are unacceptable. We strongly condemn this attack and stand with the victims and the people of Ukraine.'

Developments in the Kyiv Region

In addition, experimental Orieshnik ballistic missiles struck Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region. These events underscore the severity of the situation and the urgent need for international support to restore peace.

This attack once again highlights the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and its devastating impact on civilians. The Hungarian minister’s statement reflects growing international concern over the situation and the necessity for collective action to ensure regional stability. As hostilities continue, it is crucial for the global community to keep backing Ukraine in its pursuit of peace and security.

The recent attack on Kyiv has drawn widespread condemnation, with Hungary's new Foreign Minister expressing strong disapproval of the violence.
