Ukrainian Citizens Freed from Detention
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that seven Ukrainian citizens, who had been detained in Budapest, have been released. The individuals are now safe and have successfully crossed back into Ukrainian territory. This diplomatic success highlights ongoing efforts to protect citizens abroad during a period of regional instability.
Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukrainian consular officials provided all necessary assistance to the freed individuals.
'They are now safe and have crossed the Ukrainian border. Our consuls provided them with the required assistance. I thank our team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary, as well as law enforcement agencies, state institutions, state banks, and everyone who helped secure their release.' Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
This development underscores the critical role of Ukrainian diplomats and law enforcement agencies operating overseas to safeguard the nation's citizens. The successful release of these individuals is likely to bolster public confidence in state institutions and demonstrates Ukraine's capacity to address challenges affecting its people beyond its borders.
