Developments in Hlushkivka and Kupiansk
Ukraine's Joint Forces Command has refuted claims from the Russian Ministry of Defense asserting control over the settlement of Hlushkivka in the Kharkiv region. According to official Ukrainian information, Hlushkivka remains under the control of Ukrainian defenders, with no Russian military presence in the area. The Russian ministry's statements about occupying the village are false.
The strategically vital logistics hub of Kupiansk also remains a focal point. In early January, a clearance operation was ongoing in Kupiansk, during which Ukrainian forces reported that fewer than one hundred Russian troops remained in the city at that time. The Institute for the Study of War continues to analyze Russian military actions in northern Ukraine.
“To the settlements 'captured' by Russian generals in their dreams, fantasies, and reports to superiors—beyond Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi—they have now added the village of Hlushkivka in Kharkiv Oblast.”
