Germany introduces fines of up to 1000 euros for evasion of military registration

Німеччина запроваджує штрафи до 1000 євро за ухилення від військового обліку.

In Germany, a law has been approved that imposes fines on young men who evade mandatory military registration procedures. According to the military service law, every male citizen of Germany who reaches the age of 18 must fill out a special questionnaire regarding their physical condition and willingness to serve in the armed forces.

In case of refusal to fill out the questionnaire or submitting false information, young men face a fine of up to 1000 euros. They may also be summoned for a medical examination, and in case of refusal, civil police may be involved for delivery. However, there is the option to apply for an exemption from the medical examination.

Students' protests against the law

No one talks to us. No one asks us what we want.

After the approval of the conscription law, German students organized a boycott in educational institutions and took to the streets in demonstrations against this law. Their main slogan is 'We do not want to become cannon fodder.' The law is aimed at increasing the army's size to 260,000 servicemen by 2035.

The law has been approved in Germany, under which young men will have to comply with military registration, as well as show readiness to serve. Fines await those who evade, while students are actively protesting against this law, urging the government not to force them to 'become cannon fodder' in the army.
