The Ukrainian Rada adopted a law to create the position of Military Ombudsman, who will protect the rights of military personnel and other categories related to the security and defense sector. The president will appoint a civilian to this position for a term of five years, and he will become an auxiliary body to the president. The new ombudsman will have the authority to conduct inspections in military units if there are grounds, such as complaints, appeals from deputies, or publications in the media. The goal of the law is to improve the protection of military personnel from unlawful actions by their commanders.
