Minister of Defense on Veterans
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, stated that there are over 1.3 million individuals with war veteran status in Ukraine. This was discussed at the international veterans forum 'Ukraine. Veterans. Security'.
'More than 1.3 million Ukrainians have the status of war veterans. The Ministry of Defense involves them in work at all levels of our responsibility,' emphasized the minister.
It is noted that veterans make an important contribution to the defense capability of the country. For example, the DELTA system, which is one of the most innovative Ukrainian developments, was created thanks to their participation. Veterans also assist in demining the territory of Ukraine and aim to participate in the reconstruction and economic growth of the state.
The Role of Veterans in Society
Denys Shmyhal emphasized that veterans are important as a key element of military reserve and military-patriotic education. They will also be involved in the work of National Resistance Centers and the civil service.
The Ministry of Defense, together with the Ministry of Veterans, is working to improve the social support of servicemen. The main goal is to simplify the process of providing services and relieve servicemen from additional concerns. Respect and honor for veterans, memory of the fallen, and the well-being of the families of defenders, as well as the participation of veterans in ensuring national security and defense capability of the country, are important.
During the international veterans forum 'Ukraine. Veterans. Security', the Minister of Defense of Ukraine highlighted the significant contribution of veterans to supporting the country's defense capability, respect for them, and the need for further cooperation in ensuring national security.
