Support for wildfire response
Ukrainian emergency personnel set off for France early in the day to assist with ongoing forest fires. The deployment was authorized by President Volodymyr Zelensky and organized through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The mission comprises 70 rescuers and 15 purpose-built vehicles heading to the French Republic. Coordination with French authorities
Ukraine's Interior Minister Ivan Vyhovskyi confirmed the departure, saying he had spoken online the day before with French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez. Their conversation focused on how the Ukrainian team would operate in France. Vyhovskyi expressed gratitude for Nuñez's recognition of the work done by Ukraine's Interior Ministry units and voiced support for deeper bilateral cooperation between the two ministries.
Vyhovskyi noted that State Emergency Service personnel have gained exceptional expertise under extremely demanding conditions: they deal with the aftermath of Russian strikes every day, battle massive blazes, run search-and-rescue operations, and function in areas of persistent danger.

Should additional support be required, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service aviation will be sent to reinforce the rescue effort.
