Expanding the Specialized Demining Equipment Fleet
Ukraine is significantly expanding its arsenal of specialized demining equipment, with a focus on remote-controlled machines. By early 2026, the country will have 135 of these units, which will account for 45% of all equipment deployed in de-occupied territories. The primary suppliers are the Croatian company DOK-ING and the Swiss firm GCS. This expansion is a critical part of the effort to clear the vast areas of Ukraine contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance.
Technical Specifications and Production Localization
Of the 135 remote-controlled machines, 76 units are GCS models (200 and 100), while 69 are DOK-ING models (MV-10 and MV-4). Notably, DOK-ING has achieved 30% localization of production in partnership with A3-Tech and aims to increase this level to 50%. Meanwhile, GCS has opened a service center in Kyiv and has already dispatched its mobile brigades over a hundred times to service the equipment. This demonstrates active support and infrastructure development for the effective use of remote-controlled machines in Ukraine's de-occupied regions.
The growth of Ukraine's remote-controlled demining fleet is a vital step toward ensuring safety and restoring territories affected by the conflict.
Advancements in demining technology help reduce risks for civilians and facilitate a quicker return to normal life in de-occupied areas. Investments in localizing production can also stimulate the domestic economy and reduce dependence on imported technologies.
