Delivery of Buses from Île-de-France
Ukraine is set to receive 34 large passenger buses from the French region of Île-de-France by the end of 2026 as part of the 'UZ Dovize' project. This initiative aims to provide alternative passenger transport on routes disrupted by Russian attacks targeting the country's railway infrastructure. The first fleet of buses is expected to arrive in November, with the remainder scheduled for delivery throughout December.
“Our collaboration with the Île-de-France region dates back to my time working in Kyiv Oblast. French partners have played a crucial role in supporting Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Today, we are expanding this partnership to the ministerial level, scaling successful solutions to benefit additional areas across Ukraine. The transfer of buses to Ukrainian Railways is a tangible outcome of this cooperation.”
Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister for Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport of Ukraine
Broader Partnership with Île-de-France
The cooperation between Ukraine and Île-de-France extends beyond bus deliveries to include support for the energy resilience of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Plans are underway to supply generators for critical infrastructure facilities and charging stations for social institutions. These efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to improving both transport accessibility and energy security in Ukraine.
Receiving buses from Île-de-France represents a significant advancement in strengthening Ukraine's transport infrastructure, especially given the ongoing threats to rail services. This collaboration highlights the importance of international partnerships in times of conflict, helping to ease daily life for citizens affected by military actions. At the same time, the focus on energy resilience is vital to maintaining the operation of essential facilities, demonstrating a multifaceted strategy in addressing the country's urgent challenges.
