Vitalii Mykolenko Signs New Deal with Everton

Ukrainian defender Vitalii Mykolenko has committed his future to English Premier League side Everton by signing a contract extension. His previous agreement was set to expire at the end of the current season, but the new deal keeps him at the club until the summer of 2029, with an option for an additional year. So far this season, Mykolenko has made 35 appearances for Everton across all competitions, contributing one assist. Transfermarkt values the 25-year-old at €25 million. The left-back joined Everton in January 2022 from Dynamo Kyiv for a transfer fee of €23.5 million. Since his arrival in English football, he has played a total of 157 matches for the Toffees in all tournaments.

Slovan Bratislava in Talks with Serhiy Rebrov

Meanwhile, Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava has opened discussions with former Ukraine national team manager Serhiy Rebrov. This comes as long-time Slovan coach Vladimír Weiss prepares to take over the Slovakia national team, creating a vacancy. Club president Ivan Kmotrík has confirmed that talks with Rebrov have taken place. Slovan is also considering other candidates for the head coach position, including:

  • Robbie Keane
  • Igor Bišćan
  • Yaya Touré

Notably, two Ukrainian players—Danylo Ihnatenko and Mykola Kukharevych—are currently on Slovan's roster.

Rebrov remains a candidate for the managerial role at Greek club Panathinaikos. He has held two meetings with the club's leadership and requested a three-year contract worth €2.2 million per season for his coaching staff. Rebrov has set a deadline for a decision by the end of May. Additionally, he could take charge of Al-Wahda in the United Arab Emirates league. Rebrov previously managed the Ukrainian national team from June 2023 to April 2026, overseeing 34 matches with a record of 16 wins, eight draws, and ten losses. He is currently 51 years old.

“A new contender for Serhiy Rebrov—and this is no joke. Our sources have provided sensational information that Slovan is seriously interested in the Ukrainian coach.”

Mykolenko's contract extension highlights Everton's confidence in his abilities and his importance to the squad for the coming years. It also underscores the Ukrainian defender's growing stability on the international stage. As for Rebrov, a potential appointment at Slovan could represent a significant step in his coaching career, given the club's ambitions in European competitions. The negotiations suggest Slovan is eager to improve its performance and strengthen the team's presence internationally.

As Mykolenko secures his future at Everton, other clubs are also strategizing for the upcoming seasons. Notably, Panathinaikos is in negotiations with Rebrov regarding a potential three-year deal, highlighting the dynamic coaching landscape in European football. This move could significantly impact the managerial scene, especially with Rebrov's experience guiding national teams.
