The Ukrainian national team completed the World Games-2025 on August 9 with gold in karate and seventh overall in the medal standings. This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Karate
- The Ukrainian team won gold for Rizvan Talibov in the over 84 kg weight category. Andrey Zaplitny and Valeriy Chobotar were out already at the qualification stage.
Dragon Boat Racing
- The Ukrainian dragon boat racing team secured participation in four finals for the next day. They completed all preliminary and semifinal races in second place.
- It is also worth noting that in the 2000 m dispersal final, open category, the Ukrainian team placed 4th.
Water Skiing
- Sofia Sokova reached the final of the wake surfing discipline, earning third place in her group. Volodymyr Chuba was eliminated from the semifinals.
At the same time, Ukraine took 10th place in the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival. The team won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
Performance Details
This year marked the second most successful performance of the Ukrainian team at the Festivals since 2019, when 25 awards were chosen. This year, the judo team stood out especially, winning six medals. Successes were also noted by representatives of swimming, athletics, taekwondo, air rifle shooting, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis.
Recent Achievements
At the World Summer Universiade in Germany, the Ukrainian national team won yet another award in race walking. In total, the team achieved 12 awards, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
Overall, Ukraine placed 14th in the overall medal standings.
The Ukrainian team demonstrated a high level at various international competitions, winning gold medals in karate and dragon boat racing. In general medal standings of various festivals and tournaments, Ukrainian athletes showed significant success and a high level of preparation.
