Restoration of agricultural land in Ukraine
In 2025, Ukrainian agrarians returned over 12 thousand hectares of land to cultivation thanks to the clearance of explosive remnants, the costs of which amounted to nearly 713 million hryvnias. The land clearance became possible due to the increase in the number of demining operators, which grew from 73 to 134 companies. The total cost of the demining works amounted to about 713 million hryvnias, which indicates significant efforts made to restore agricultural lands.
With the aim of further clearance, contracts worth 1.17 billion hryvnias were signed for the clearance of over 17 thousand hectares. The average cost of clearing one hectare in 2025 ranged from 68-70 thousand hryvnias. The total contribution of international partners to this activity reached 1.5 billion dollars, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in humanitarian demining. Additional commitments of 80 million dollars were announced during the conference in Japan, indicating continued support from the global community.
Initiatives in humanitarian demining
In September 2025, a service for certifying demining activities was launched on the 'DIA' portal, which will help increase the efficiency of land clearance. Also, in December 2025, a digital system GRIT was presented, aimed at improving the management of demining processes.
'The launch of the program created demand from market players for both demining machines and the latest technologies, as well as the services provided by the state.' Ihor Bezkaraivnyi
These initiatives indicate the intensification of efforts towards humanitarian demining and the restoration of agricultural land in Ukraine.
The efforts to clear the land of explosive remnants are critically important for the recovery of Ukraine's agricultural sector, which has suffered significant losses due to military actions. The increase in the number of companies engaged in demining and international support indicate the activation of recovery processes that can positively affect food security in the region. The introduction of new technologies and services can also simplify this process and ensure more efficient resource use in the future.
