The National Police of Ukraine reported that a 36-year-old resident of Zhytomyr, who had been hiding abroad for a long time, was extradited from Denmark back to Ukraine.
According to law enforcement, the man was one of the organizers of a criminal group engaged in illegal gambling business. The activities of this group were completed by the police in August 2022.
"He coordinated the criminal activities, managing the work of groups that conducted criminal actions in the Zhytomyr region," the police said.
It also turned out that the man had criminal ties and had been repeatedly convicted of various offenses.
The suspect has been charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court decided to keep him in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 908,400 hryvnias. The man faces 7 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Recently, Poland demanded Belarus extradite Ukrainian citizens suspected of sabotage on the railway. The incident occurred on November 17 on the Warsaw-Lublin line, where one of the tracks was damaged as a result of an explosion.
Conclusion: Ukraine has gained the opportunity to prosecute and punish the Zhytomyr resident who was hiding abroad and was involved in criminal activities in the Zhytomyr region.
