Ukraine's New Honorary Consul in the Dominican Republic

Ukraine has appointed Viktoriia Yakimova as its new Honorary Consul to the Dominican Republic. The consulate office was officially opened on March 21. Honorary consuls, who are often prominent local citizens, play a key role in fostering diplomatic and economic ties. Yakimova is originally from Odesa, where she studied at the Odesa State Economic University, and currently resides in the city of La Romana.

Viktoriia Yakimova's Background and Role

Yakimova, who previously worked in the modeling industry, is now employed at v-tersolutions, a company specializing in software development for logistics firms. She has openly addressed her past career, emphasizing the right of a modern, self-sufficient woman to pursue her chosen profession and evolve.

"When submitting my candidacy for the position of Honorary Consul, I did not try to hide my previous life connected with modeling. A modern, self-sufficient woman has the right to realize herself in her chosen profession, as well as to change her direction of development and grow,"
Yakimova stated.

It is noted that in 2022, photos surfaced of Yakimova wearing a Russian kokoshnik headdress, and in March 2023 she commented on the consequences of Google closing its office in Russia. Her appointment is seen as opening new opportunities for developing Ukrainian-Dominican relations.

This appointment is expected to invigorate cooperation between Ukraine and the Dominican Republic, particularly in economic and cultural spheres. The consulate office will serve as an important platform for strengthening bilateral links and supporting the Ukrainian community in the Dominican Republic. Yakimova's position as a woman who combines diverse professional paths is also viewed as a demonstration of achieving success across different fields.
