Social Spending in Ukraine: A Closer Look
As of July 22, 2023, Ukraine has allocated substantial funds to meet social needs. A total of 65.7 billion UAH was directed toward pension disbursements, with 9.3 billion UAH distributed via Ukrposhta (the state postal service) and 56.4 billion UAH through authorized banks.
In addition, 1.4 billion UAH was set aside for housing subsidies and benefits, while insurance payouts totaled 2.8 billion UAH—half of which (1.4 billion UAH) covered sick leave compensation. Social assistance and other payments amounted to 10.6 billion UAH. During July, the Pension Fund of Ukraine processed over 1,008,900 services for citizens who submitted requests.
