Ukraine Creates Agricultural Attachés: How This Will Change Exports to the EU

Запровадження агроконсульств в Україні: нові можливості для експорту до Європейського Союзу.
At the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, a meeting took place between Deputy Ministers Taras Vysotskyi and Denys Bashlyk with representatives of the European Union and embassies of EU countries in Ukraine on agricultural policy.

During the meeting, the results of work and the next steps for cooperation for the sustainable development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector were discussed. Among the key topics were the results of screenings with the EU, the establishment of the agricultural attaché institute, and support for synergy between economic, agricultural, and environmental areas.

Agricultural diplomacy is the next strategic step. Ukraine is already working on creating positions for agricultural attachés in diplomatic and trade missions, which will represent the interests of the Ukrainian agricultural sector abroad.

Taras Vysotskyi noted that Ukraine's Euro-integration path is irreversible. The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the law on the Payment Agency, which will promote transparent and operational state support for agricultural producers.

'The launch of the Payment Agency is a concrete example of implementing European practices. We are systematically building a model of agricultural policy – from harmonizing legislation to real support for producers. This is a team effort by the Ministry of Economy to strengthen the Ukrainian agricultural sector,' emphasized Denys Bashlyk.

The further priorities of the Ministry of Economy's work remain supporting farmers in frontline areas, reclamation reform, demining, and restoring agricultural land, as well as developing agro-processing.

'EU representatives confirmed their readiness to support Ukraine – both financially and technically. They noted the importance of developing the agricultural attaché institute, which will promote the advancement of Ukrainian products in international markets,' the Ministry of Economy reported.

At the meeting in the Ministry of Economy, key issues regarding cooperation with the European Union concerning the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector were discussed. The emphasis was placed on the importance of agricultural diplomacy, which will become an essential tool for promoting Ukrainian agricultural products in international markets. It was also noted that Ukraine will continue to implement European standards and practices in the field of agriculture and support for agricultural producers.
