First Centenary Partnership Forum Held

The inaugural forum of the century-long partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom took place in Kyiv, marking the anniversary of the 100-year partnership agreement. The event focused on critical areas of cooperation in security, economics, and politics. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha opened the forum, highlighting the partnership's enduring nature by stating,

"A century-long partnership is about permanence beyond electoral cycles."

Key Forum Decisions and Commitments

Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, was the guest of honor. This marks his fifth visit to Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began. He reaffirmed the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine, announcing over 1 billion hryvnias in funding for Ukrainian energy. The UK also pledged ongoing annual military support exceeding 170 billion hryvnias.

A major outcome was the announcement of joint production for a thousand Octopus interceptor drones, set to begin in February. Andrii Sybiha noted,

"The United Kingdom has undertaken a long-term commitment to Ukraine's military support,"
and emphasized the importance of sanctions pressure on Russia, which has significantly intensified, including sanctions against over 540 tankers. He added, "It is crucial that not only the vessels but the entire toxic infrastructure system of this shameful fleet is targeted."

The forum underscored the constant dialogue between President Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Starmer, which strengthens bilateral ties.

"This is an alliance of trust at the highest level,"
summarized Andrii Sybiha, expressing profound gratitude to the United Kingdom for its comprehensive support of Ukraine.

This forum was a significant event in deepening Ukraine-UK cooperation, particularly amid ongoing Russian aggression. The UK's military and economic backing highlights the strategic depth of a partnership vital for regional stability. The joint drone production and energy funding demonstrate a shared commitment to long-term collaboration in critical sectors, reinforcing Ukraine's defensive capabilities and energy resilience.
