Cooperation Agreement Signed

On February 9, 2026, in Lviv, Ukraine's State Agency for Tourism Development and the EIT Community Hub Ukraine formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. The signing ceremony took place during the Hotel Forum UA 2026, an event organized by VAN GROUP. This agreement establishes a framework for joint efforts to foster innovation, culture, and the growth of Ukraine's tourism sector.

The memorandum was officially signed by Natalia Tabaka, Head of Ukraine's State Agency for Tourism Development, and Igor Markevych, Head of the EIT Community Hub Ukraine. This marks the beginning of a structured collaboration designed to unlock new opportunities for advancing Ukraine's tourism industry.

The EIT's Role in Tourism Development

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body and a key component of the Horizon Europe program. Its mission is to foster pan-European partnerships that bring together businesses, universities, and research centers. Through its network of Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), the EIT cultivates innovative ecosystems in several critical fields.

The EIT focuses its development efforts on a range of key sectors, including:

  • Climate
  • Energy
  • Health
  • Food Security
  • Manufacturing
  • Digitalization
  • Urban Mobility
  • Culture and Creative Industries

This partnership aims to activate potential within Ukraine by facilitating the introduction of new technologies and innovative practices, which is expected to significantly enhance the country's tourism sector. This collaboration comes at a crucial time for Ukraine's economy, which is seeking pathways for recovery and modernization.

The signing of this Memorandum could represent a vital step in the recovery and development of Ukraine's tourism industry, which has suffered considerable losses during recent crises. Cooperation with the EIT Community Hub Ukraine may promote the integration of cutting-edge technologies and approaches in tourism, thereby strengthening Ukraine's competitiveness in the international market for tourism services.

As Ukraine takes significant steps to enhance its tourism sector through innovative partnerships, it is also making strides on the international stage. Recently, the country was prominently featured at the world's largest travel expo, which showcases its unique offerings to a global audience. This event not only highlights Ukraine's commitment to tourism but also aligns with the goals set forth in the recent cooperation agreement.
