EU-Ukraine Business Forum in Brussels
At the EU-Ukraine Business Forum held in Brussels, agreements were signed to establish joint ventures focusing on satellite communications and combat robotics. These deals aim to integrate Ukraine's defense industrial base into the European ecosystem and create high-tech manufacturing capabilities.
Partnerships and New Enterprises
Danish firm GomSpace and Ukrainian company STETMAN have signed an agreement to create a joint venture called UASAT, which will work to provide Ukraine with independent satellite communication services. The first UASAT satellite is scheduled for orbital launch in the autumn of 2026. The signing ceremony was supported by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, the European Investment Bank, and the Ukrainian government.
Separately, Ukrainian company TENCORE and French firm SHARK ROBOTICS signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish two joint ventures. The first, based in France, will focus on developing defense robots for the French armed forces. The second will operate in Ukraine, concentrating on the civilian security sector.
These signed documents demonstrate European businesses' readiness to invest in the joint development of dual-use technologies. Cooperation in space and robotics strengthens Ukraine's defense capabilities while creating new job opportunities for Ukrainian engineers.
These agreements open up new prospects for Ukraine's defense sector, enabling the integration of advanced technologies and collaboration with leading European companies. The development of joint ventures in strategic fields like satellite communications and robotics could mark a significant step toward enhancing the country's security and economic stability.
As Ukraine strengthens its defense capabilities through collaborations like the recent agreements with EU partners, it is also exploring innovative partnerships in the defense sector, such as the newly established cooperation with the Netherlands. This new defense initiative highlights the growing momentum in Ukraine's efforts to modernize its military technology and enhance security through international alliances.
