Ukraine and Moldova are seeking alternative routes after the Russian strike on the bridge in the area of Mayaky
Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba stated that after the suspension of traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway due to the Russian attack on the bridge in Mayaky, the Ukrainian and Moldovan authorities are looking for alternative ways to transport people, goods, and transit flows.
Teams from the Ministry of Development, military personnel, road services, and businesses have started searching for other routes considering safety and road conditions.
Coordination with Moldova to ensure logistics in southern Ukraine
Alongside this, Ukraine is cooperating with Moldova to develop transit routes and alternative connections to ensure uninterrupted logistics in the southern part of the country.
“The enemy’s strikes on bridges in southern Odesa by Russian forces are part of the RF strategy to isolate Bessarabia and create risks for the region.”
It is noted that traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway has been temporarily suspended due to a Russian aerial attack in the area of Mayaky, leading to restrictions on movement through certain border crossing points with Moldova. The suspension of freight transportation occurred due to enemy shelling in Odesa region.
Ukraine and Moldova are actively working to find alternative routes to further maintain transport connections while avoiding threats and damages arising from hostile actions.
