Top Diplomats from Ukraine and the Netherlands Hold Talks in Ankara

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with his Dutch counterpart, Tom Berendsen, in Turkey’s capital. Their discussions centered on strengthening defenses against Russia’s ballistic missile attacks and advancing peace efforts. The meeting also covered Ukraine’s bid to join the European Union, with the Netherlands backing the opening of additional negotiation chapters.

Dutch Support for Accountability and Security

Sybiha highlighted the Netherlands’ crucial role in holding Russia accountable for its acts of aggression.

'I once again expressed gratitude to the Netherlands for backing all accountability mechanisms, particularly the decision to host the Special Tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine in The Hague,' Sybiha stated.

The officials also outlined a schedule for future engagements and reviewed major international developments.

This diplomatic meeting underscores Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to secure global backing amid the ongoing conflict. The Netherlands’ steadfast support—both in prosecuting war crimes and advancing Ukraine’s EU integration—highlights the strength of international cooperation. By addressing key security challenges and planning further talks, both nations demonstrate a shared commitment to regional stability and the rule of law.
