First session of the security meeting
On January 3, 2026, the first session of the meeting took place with security advisors from 15 countries, representatives of the EU and NATO. Key strategic documents for Ukraine's interaction with partners were worked on during this event. Among the participants was First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia, who provided details of the discussions.
The document reviewed during the session consists of four sections and secret appendices. Serhiy Kyslytsia noted:
“We went through key documents, except for the economic document. It will be considered at the second session with the participation of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev.”
This indicates the continuation of work on important aspects of security and cooperation with international partners.
The importance of international support
It is also worth noting the participation of Lieutenant General Andriy Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is expected that security guarantees will be signed between Ukraine, the USA, and European countries, including Canada. Oleksandr Bevz, one of the session participants, emphasized that:
“It is not the Americans who insist on ultimatums, but the Russians. No one pressured Ukraine during the morning session.”
This confirms that the dialogue is taking place in an atmosphere of openness and constructiveness.
This session of the meeting highlights the importance of international support for Ukraine in the context of security challenges faced by the country. The participation of NATO and EU representatives signifies an intensification of cooperation in the security sphere, which may strengthen Ukraine's positions in negotiations regarding security guarantees. Further meetings, including the planned meeting with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, may become important stages in shaping the country's security strategy and economic development.
