Agreements on Ukraine's security

After two days of negotiations in Berlin, Ukrainian and European leaders, as well as representatives from the United States, reached agreements on a package of security guarantees for Ukraine. This package includes support for Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the parties have agreed on 90% of the issues, indicating progress in the negotiations.

Key discussion points

Among the key points discussed were the commitments of the United States and European countries, which should be similar to Article 5 of NATO. This means that in the event of aggression against Ukraine, allies are obliged to provide military support. Additionally, it was noted that the strength of the Ukrainian armed forces will total 800,000 personnel, emphasizing the country's intentions to strengthen its defense capabilities.

Another important aspect of the negotiations was the issue of blocked Russian assets. The European Union has blocked Russian assets worth 210 billion euros, creating the possibility of using these funds for a reparative loan to Ukraine of up to 90 billion euros by the end of 2027.

Overall, the results of the two-day negotiations in Berlin marked an important step towards strengthening Ukraine's security and its international support. This package of security guarantees could significantly impact the strategic situation in the region, enhancing Ukraine's level of defense and ensuring stability in the face of ongoing threats. The subsequent actions of international partners and their readiness to actively support Ukraine remain key factors in the context of ensuring peace in the region.
