Discussions Strengthen Military Partnership
David ALOYAN, Deputy Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, recently met with US embassy officials to advance preparations for the Drone Deal agreement. The talks focused on expanding defense-industrial cooperation and increasing the export of Ukrainian weaponry. Key priorities of the Interagency Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation were also reviewed. ALOYAN highlighted the involvement of Ukrainian firms in US Department of Defense initiatives, notably the Drone Dominance program.
President Volodymyr Zelensky held significant meetings with Matthew Whitaker, the US Ambassador to NATO, and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, Commander of NATO’s Special Mission. The discussions centered on:
- strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities;
- deepening defense ties between Ukraine and the United States;
- the implementation of former US President Donald Trump’s authorization for Ukraine to produce Patriot missile systems.
Additionally, Ukraine finalized a Drone Deal with Latvia and engaged with leaders from Finland and Norway on enhancing air defense. According to the National Security and Defense Council press service, "The parties focused on advancing Ukrainian-American defense industry cooperation, finalizing the Drone Deal between Ukraine and the US, and fostering collaboration among defense companies. Special emphasis was placed on boosting exports of Ukrainian arms."
