Ukrainian Delegation Heads to Abu Dhabi for Consultations
A Ukrainian delegation is traveling to Abu Dhabi for consultations scheduled for February 4-5. The agenda includes bilateral meetings with the United States and a trilateral meeting in a Ukraine-U.S.-Russia format. The primary topics for discussion will be security guarantees, as well as a comprehensive package for Ukraine's recovery and economic support.
Structure of the Negotiations
The talks will proceed in two stages. The first part will be dedicated to a bilateral meeting with the American side, represented by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. This meeting is expected to cover the signing of security guarantees and other bilateral matters. Following this, a trilateral meeting will take place, with the Russian side also represented at a significant level. Discussions on military-political issues are planned within this framework.
A separate block of discussions will focus on the package for Ukraine's recovery and economic support. This package consists of several parts, and the delegation will discuss the specific support to be provided by Europe and the United States. According to Rustem Umerov, teams have been working on these issues for several months, and the work is now in its final stages. The President of Ukraine held a working meeting with members of the negotiation team, during which the framework for the talks and specific tasks were agreed upon.
The delegation plans to hold both multilateral and bilateral meetings, concentrating on all issues requiring attention in line with the established directives.
These negotiations represent a critical step in the context of international support for Ukraine, particularly given the ongoing conflict and the need for concrete security assurances. The discussions with U.S. and Russian representatives could significantly impact Ukraine's future political and economic situation, as well as international relations in the region. The question of the country's recovery, which requires concerted efforts from both Western partners and the Ukrainian side, is another vital component. These talks follow previous international efforts to establish a sustainable security architecture for Ukraine post-conflict.
