Dmitry Rogozin Comments on the Night Attack
Dmitry Rogozin, a Russian senator and former head of Roscosmos, weighed in on the nighttime assault, during which Moscow claims a record 556 drones were shot down over Russian territory. He conceded that Russia is powerless to counter such strikes and warned that the frequency of attacks will only increase. According to Rogozin, Ukraine is pursuing a strategy of economically exhausting Russia’s air defense system, undermining its effectiveness.
Rogozin also pointed out that Ukrainian forces are using cheap foam drones to overwhelm Russia’s production capacity for surface-to-air missiles, each costing several million rubles. He emphasized that the goal of these drones is to 'terrorize the roads,' disrupting all logistics and the movement of military and heavy cargo vehicles.
Ukrainian Operations and Their Impact
According to Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), the country’s defense forces carried out a comprehensive long-range special operation, striking a military-industrial complex facility and three oil logistics sites in the Moscow region with drones and missile systems. Additionally, Ukrainian forces destroyed an air defense system and airport infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the operation’s success, noting that Ukrainian long-range weapons covered a distance of over 500 kilometers.
'Do you think there will be fewer of them? No, their number will grow, and they will probe for gaps and vulnerabilities in our defense.' Dmitry Rogozin
Rogozin expressed his belief that the intensity of attacks will increase, and the routes and tactics used for drones will continue to improve. These remarks reflect growing concern among Russian military experts about Ukraine’s evolving capabilities in the conflict.
The current situation highlights the rising effectiveness of Ukrainian armed forces in deploying drone technology to achieve military objectives. The expansion of attack scales and the adoption of new tactics by Ukraine could lead to significant shifts in the strategic landscape on the front lines. This also underscores the urgent need for Russia to adapt its air defense systems, which Rogozin admits are facing serious challenges in countering modern threats.
As the conflict escalates, the effectiveness of Ukraine's drone strategies becomes increasingly evident. Recent insights from the commander of Ukraine's unmanned forces reveal that operations are reaching unprecedented depths, targeting critical infrastructure deep within Russian territory. This highlights the growing sophistication and reach of Ukraine's military tactics, raising further concerns for Russian defense capabilities.
