Ukraine’s Growing Strike Capabilities
Ukraine has significantly expanded its ability to strike targets located between 20 and 150 kilometers away, resulting in a twofold increase in hits on key enemy infrastructure over the past month. Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov stated that priority targets for these attacks remain:
- ammunition depots
- command headquarters
- air defense systems
- enemy logistics hubs
In April, the number of strikes carried out at distances beyond 20 kilometers was double that of March and four times higher than in February. This marks a notable acceleration in Ukraine’s operational reach.
In addition to long-range strikes, Ukraine is also advancing its ground robotic systems (GRS). Throughout April, these systems completed 10,281 missions for evacuation and logistics, averaging 367 sorties per day. Ukraine’s long-range weapons can now hit targets approximately 1,750 kilometers away, reflecting a dramatic increase in deep-strike capability against Russia’s rear areas. Since the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine’s defense forces have more than doubled this range.
Enemy Losses and Their Impact
In terms of enemy casualties, April saw video-confirmed destruction or severe wounding of over 35,000 Russian troops. Mykhailo Fedorov noted:
“We already see results: in April, strikes at 20+ km doubled compared to March and quadrupled compared to February” — Mykhailo Fedorov
For five consecutive months, Russia has been losing more personnel than it can mobilize. “Our goal is to inflict such losses on the enemy that further advances become impossible,” Fedorov emphasized.
These developments illustrate Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to enhance its offensive capabilities, which in turn are reshaping battlefield dynamics and the frontline situation.
The rise in Ukraine’s strike capacity, coupled with heavy Russian losses, signals a shifting balance of power on the front lines. The narrative of successful attacks on strategic assets is made possible by new technologies and innovations within Ukraine’s military, enabling the country to respond more effectively to security challenges. Consequently, it is crucial to monitor further changes in the military strategies of both Ukraine and Russia, as these could significantly influence the trajectory of the conflict.
