Ukraine is negotiating an end to the war
Ukraine is negotiating to end the war with the United States administration, rather than with European partners. This was discussed during the talks on the negotiation process and future security guarantees for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there are already documents regarding security guarantees, recovery, and basic frameworks for ending the war.
'Documents already exist, it turns out documents regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, recovery, and basic frameworks for ending this war,' – noted Volodymyr Zelensky.
These documents must be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Situation in Europe
In his statements, President Zelensky now uses the wording 'real end of the war', whereas previously he spoke of 'fair end'. The points of the documents, he says, are formulated to meet this task.
At the same time, Europe is allocating 90 billion euros to Ukraine over the next two years, which is seen as support for defense capability. However, the positions of European leaders regarding the threat from Russia differ:
- NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warns that 'NATO must be ready for a war of the scale that our grandfathers and great-grandfathers experienced.'
- German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, on the other hand, states that he does not believe in the scenario of a full-scale war between Russia and NATO.
