Ukrainian Military Teams Deploy to Middle East

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the deployment of Ukrainian military units to the Middle East. This move comes as part of previously established agreements, with three specialized teams being sent to three different countries this week: Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. The deployment signals Kyiv's effort to expand its international defense partnerships even while engaged in a major war at home.

Zelenskyy stated, 'We have dispatched our teams—three fully staffed, professional units. This week, all three will be operating in three separate countries: Qatar, the Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.'

In a related development, Ukrainian military experts have also been sent to U.S. bases in Jordan for further collaboration.

Hungary Seizes Financial Assets Bound for Ukraine

In a separate incident, Hungarian authorities last week confiscated $40 million, €35 million, and 9 kilograms of gold that were being transported from Austria to Ukraine for the state-owned Oschadbank. The Hungarian government acknowledged this action was taken to pressure Kyiv into resuming oil shipments via the Druzhba pipeline. Planned trilateral talks in Turkey this Tuesday and Wednesday have been postponed at the request of the United States.

Zelenskyy also called on international partners to break their silence during this difficult period: 'I will repeat publicly what I have told many of our friends: what we need from Europe today is one thing—do not stay silent.'

The deployment of Ukrainian personnel to the Middle East highlights an expansion of the country's foreign military cooperation, which could have significant implications for regional security dynamics. Simultaneously, Hungary's seizure of assets underscores the ongoing tensions between Kyiv and Budapest, potentially affecting energy policy and bilateral economic relations. Zelenskyy's appeals to allies emphasize Ukraine's need for sustained international support as it navigates multiple external challenges.
