This year, Ukraine is celebrating Children's Protection Day for the first time on November 20, when the whole world celebrates Universal Children's Day. Our children grow up in wartime conditions, and it is extremely hard to imagine: most schoolchildren have never seen peaceful Ukraine.
However, the authorities are doing everything possible to ensure continuous and quality medical assistance for children. In particular, the state guarantees free treatment under the program of medical guarantees from the moment of family planning and pregnancy to childbirth and subsequent care for the child.
Among the services provided for free are infertility treatment through reproductive technologies, childbirth, and assistance to infants with pathologies. These services are very important, especially in wartime conditions and the exacerbation of medical problems in the country.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, as of the end of October 2025, Russian aggression has led to the loss of at least 661 children, injury to more than 2200 children, destruction or damage to more than 4500 schools and kindergartens, and the deportation of more than 19,000 Ukrainian children. Unfortunately, these numbers continue to grow almost daily.
Ukraine is trying to take care of the future of its children even in the difficult situation that has developed in the country. Free medical assistance for children from the first moments of life to adulthood is an important guarantee of their health and well-being.
