Ukraine to Regulate Real Estate Agents: What Will Change for 40 Thousand Specialists

Нові правила для агентів з нерухомості в Україні: як це вплине на 40 тисяч фахівців?

Regulation of Real Estate Agents in Ukraine

Ukraine plans to regulate the work of real estate agents, which concerns up to 40 thousand real estate specialists. The Ukrainian Parliament will create a working group to develop norms for these specialists after the adoption of the law 'On the Basic Principles of Housing Policy'. The committee on this matter will be chaired by Olena Shulyak, who is the head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, and Regional Development.

The bill No. 12377, which envisages the fundamentals of housing policy, has become the basis for creating a working group that will start its activities at the end of the current year. The regulation of real estate activities is part of Ukraine's obligations to the European Union within the Ukraine Facility program. Olena Shulyak noted that petitions had been submitted to the government demanding order in this area. The Prime Minister has already instructed to prepare proposals regarding the real estate market.

Olena Shulyak's Position

However, despite the need for regulation, Shulyak emphasized that she does not support the option of mandatory certification through one specific organization. Currently, there is no accurate statistics regarding the quality of real estate services in Ukraine, and there are plans to create a transparent system without monopoly aimed at improving the situation in the real estate market.

Olena Shulyak: 'A transparent system without monopoly is planned to be created in Ukraine, aimed at improving the situation in the real estate market.'

These changes could significantly impact the activities of real estate agents in Ukraine and ensure more effective and regulated work in this important field.

The implementation of new norms for real estate agents could be an important step in improving the quality of services in the real estate sector in Ukraine. As the real estate market is one of the key sectors of the economy, its regulation has the potential to positively affect consumer and investor confidence. Creating a transparent system without monopoly could also contribute to the development of a healthy competitive environment, which in turn could raise service standards in this industry.
