Among them is Maksym Stryzhak, who was born in Kharkiv on February 24, 1982, and was killed in action on January 15, 2023. He had served in Ukraine's State Border Guard Service since 2020, fulfilling his duty to the nation. The Heroic Acts of Maksym Stryzhak
In March 2022, the unit of the 3rd Border Guard Detachment, which included Stryzhak, was carrying out combat missions near Kreminna in the Luhansk region. On March 9, 2022, he fought in the settlement of Zhytlivka, where his unit destroyed two enemy BMP-2 armored vehicles and a Ural truck. These actions were a significant contribution to Ukraine's defense against the invasion.
In January 2023, Maksym Stryzhak was part of the forces holding back the enemy advance in the Bakhmut sector. During intense fighting, including on January 6, 2023, his unit eliminated 19 Russian military personnel. For his dedication and heroism, Maksym Stryzhak was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and received the Order of the Golden Star. His legacy stands as a powerful example of the resilience shown by Ukrainian forces in some of the war's most brutal battles.
