It is known that Ukrainians are currently in a difficult defensive situation at the front. According to Western intelligence agencies, a possible confrontation between the armies of Russia and Ukraine may occur if there is no breakthrough during peace negotiations. The head of the Estonian Defense Forces' intelligence center, Ants Kivisild, emphasized that Russian troops have made small tactical advances in the area of Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad, which is almost surrounded.
According to the latest intelligence reports, Ukrainian forces may have to conduct heavy defensive battles without the possibility of a breakthrough during peace negotiations. The supply lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are under significant pressure, complicating the retention of populated areas. Deteriorating weather conditions also make it difficult to use Ukrainian drones, which reduces the effectiveness of the defense.
“Drones play a key role in defense, but due to poor visibility, their use is limited,” explained a representative of the Estonian Defense Forces.
An Estonian expert noted that Russian troops have intensified their activities in various areas. This is possibly due to superiority in personnel, equipment, and ammunition. If a breakthrough in negotiations is not achieved, Ukrainians will have to conduct heavy defensive battles in the coming months.
“The situation will remain very tense if a peace breakthrough does not occur, and Ukrainian forces will have to tackle difficult tasks on the front,” Kivisild noted.
The current situation is not favorable for Ukraine, as Russian troops continue to advance in various directions. This allows Putin to maintain a strong position in negotiations and avoid any concessions in a peace plan. Previously, Pokrovsk has already been noted as a site of a new phase of the Russo-Ukrainian war - urban confrontation without clear lines, where sabotage groups have managed to enter the city several times and weaken its defense.
It is worth remembering that in the areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, Ukrainian forces are quite successfully hindering attempts by Russian forces to form assault groups and advance through these cities.
