Ukraine has banned most pyrotechnics: what is now allowed and what are the penalties
In Ukraine, the use and sale of most types of pyrotechnics, including classes F2, F3, and F4, are prohibited. At the same time, the use of class F1 pyrotechnics is allowed, but the sale of this class to children under 16 years old is prohibited. These measures have been implemented to ensure public order and safety.
Penalties for violating pyrotechnics usage rules
According to the new rules, criminal liability for gross violations of public order imposes fines ranging from 17,000 to 34,000 hryvnias. There is also the possibility of imprisonment for up to 5 years or deprivation of liberty for up to 4 years for groups of individuals launching fireworks. These strict measures aim to deter violations related to the use of dangerous pyrotechnical devices.
Regarding administrative fines, citizens can receive fines for violating pyrotechnics usage rules in the following amounts:
- from 85 to 255 hryvnias for citizens;
- from 255 to 510 hryvnias for officials;
- from 17,000 to 34,000 hryvnias for traders of illegal pyrotechnics with confiscation of goods.
It is also important that teenagers from 16 years old bear administrative and criminal responsibility, and for serious hooliganism, there may be liability from the age of 14.
The introduction of new rules regarding the use of pyrotechnics in Ukraine is part of a broader strategy to ensure citizens' safety in the context of escalating public order issues. The ban on certain types of pyrotechnics and the imposition of strict fines aim to reduce the risks associated with unauthorized fireworks launches, which can lead to injuries or property damage. These changes also reflect the need for control over the use of dangerous means, especially in light of increased attention to safety issues in society.
