Scaling Up Ukraine's Defense Manufacturing
During a session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Mstyslav Banik called for increased funding to expand the country's defense production capabilities. He emphasized that Ukraine's industrial base can produce up to 20 million drones annually, along with thousands of missiles for deep strikes and air defense systems. However, achieving this output requires $60 billion in assistance this year alone.
The Urgency of Timely Funding
Speaking at the forum, Banik stressed the critical need for rapid financial support to meet Ukraine's requirements for air defense systems, Patriot missiles, long-range 155-mm ammunition, and direct investment in drone and missile manufacturing.
“The main issue is funding,” he stated.In return, Ukraine offers its allies combat-proven experience, cutting-edge technologies, operational data, and a demonstrated ability to scale defense production during a large-scale war.
This appeal for defense manufacturing funding comes amid ongoing military challenges, highlighting a strategic necessity for national security. Support from NATO and international partners could significantly enhance Ukraine's capacity to counter modern threats and strengthen its defensive posture.
