Negotiations between Ukraine and Bahrain
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, held phone negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. During the conversation, the parties discussed the security situation in Bahrain and the Middle East, particularly the attacks from Iran. The Ukrainian side expressed solidarity with Bahrain and offered to share its experience in countering Iranian-made drones.
“I had a phone call with Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani to reaffirm Ukraine's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain amid Iran's reckless attacks.” - Andriy Sybiga
Andriy Sybiga also emphasized Ukraine's readiness to assist partners in the fight against threats:
“Therefore, we are ready to help our partners and share our experience in countering Iranian-made drones and other threats.” - Andriy Sybiga
The discussion also touched on the development of bilateral cooperation and strengthening relations with the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. 'In this context, we expect further strengthening of relations between Ukraine and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council during Bahrain's presidency of the GCC this year,' added Sybiga. It is worth noting that Russia has been conducting a full-scale aggression against Ukraine for over four years, and Iran supplies weapons to Russia, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the security field.
The significance of cooperation with Bahrain
These negotiations illustrate Ukraine's intentions to strengthen its ties with the countries of the Middle East, especially in the context of common threats related to Iran. Interaction with Bahrain could become an important step in forming a broader coalition against regional threats affecting security and stability. Further strengthening bilateral relations may also assist Ukraine in seeking new partners in the region, given the ongoing aggression from Russia.
