Ukraine will introduce rewards for whistleblowers of corruption: who will receive money

В Україні запровадять систему винагород для тих, хто повідомляє про корупційні діяння: хто отримає фінансову підтримку.

Draft law on rewards for whistleblowers of corruption in Ukraine

A draft law has been developed in Ukraine that provides for the payment of rewards to whistleblowers of corruption. This draft law has already been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to government representative Taras Melnychuk, the aim of this draft law is to regulate issues related to the payment of rewards to individuals who report corruption offenses.

Conditions for paying rewards

According to the proposal, rewards will be paid to individuals who provide information about a corruption offense, provided that the damage from this crime exceeds 5,000 times the subsistence minimum. This means that whistleblowers who provide significant information about corruption can expect substantial financial rewards.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) will be responsible for planning and using the funds allocated for these rewards. Melnychuk also noted that the NAPC will become the main distributor of these funds, emphasizing the importance of this body in the fight against corruption in Ukraine.

Thus, the new draft law may significantly encourage citizens to actively expose corruption offenses, which in turn should contribute to increased transparency and accountability in government affairs.

This draft law introduces a mechanism that can greatly activate public participation in the fight against corruption, as financial rewards may become a powerful motivator for exposing criminal schemes. - Taras Melnychuk

The role of the NAPC as the main distributor of funds is also important, as it can increase the level of trust in the institutions responsible for combating corruption in Ukraine. Given the relevance of the problem of corruption in the country, this draft law may become an important step towards overcoming it.
