Україна розпочала щомісячні аукціони з імпорту електроенергії: які наслідки це має для ринку.

Monthly auctions for electricity imports in Ukraine

Ukraine has launched monthly auctions for electricity imports, which will make this process more predictable. The first monthly auction for the allocation of capacity for cross-border electricity transfers with Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania took place on December 15, 2025. Direct electricity supply will begin in January 2026.

Auction results

  • Border with Hungary: 460 MW of capacity was allocated, while the import request was 4625 MW. The ceiling price in this direction was 13.4 EUR per MW. 37 participants took part in the auction, of which 20 companies became winners.

  • Border with Slovakia: 172 MW was allocated, and the import request amounted to 1826 MW. The ceiling price in this direction was 16 EUR per MW. 38 participants took part in the auction, 20 of which became winners.

  • Border with Romania: 172 MW was also allocated, with a request of 1815 MW. The ceiling price in this direction was 10.82 EUR per MW. 23 participants took part in the auction, of which 10 became winners.

Thus, conducting monthly auctions for electricity imports in Ukraine opens up new opportunities for stable electricity supply from Europe, providing greater predictability in the market.

The introduction of monthly auctions is an important step for Ukraine in the context of integration with European energy markets and enhancing energy security. It will allow Ukraine not only to diversify its electricity supply sources but also to reduce dependence on domestic producers, which is especially relevant in the context of current challenges. A successful start of the auctions could pave the way for further development of energy infrastructure and attracting investments in the sector.
