Ukrainian athletes gathered a significant collection of medals at the championship in Greece
A significant collection of medals was gathered by Ukrainian athletes at the Balkan Athletic Association Championship in Volos (Greece). This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
The medals were won by:
- 'Gold': Marina Kilipko (pole vault); Alexander Pogorilko (400 m run); Olga Holodna (shot put); men's relay team (4x400); Dmitry Baginsky (110 m hurdles).
- 'Silver': Vlad Lavskiy (high jump); Alexander Sokolov (100 m run).
- 'Bronze': men's relay team (mixed 4x400 m); men's relay team (4x100 m); Vladislav Malykhin (pole vault); Yulia Chumachenko (high jump).
Ukraine made its mark at the European Youth Olympic Festival
As a reminder, Ukraine entered the top 10 of the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, taking 10th place. The Ukrainian team has: 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is the second most successful performance of Ukraine in the history of participation in the Festivals since 1993! The 'blue and yellow' team won more medals only in 2019 - then there were 25 awards.
The most successful sport was judo - our athletes won six medals, including bronze in the mixed team tournament on the final competition day. In addition to judo, the representatives of such sports as swimming (2 golds, 2 silvers and 'bronze'), athletics ('gold', 'silver' and 2 bronzes), taekwondo (2 silvers and 'bronze'), shooting (silver and 'bronze'), gymnastics (silver and 'bronze') and table tennis (bronze) also secured medals for Ukraine.
Ukrainian athletes and sportsmen at the European Youth Olympic Festival demonstrated a high level of skill and successfully represented our country, winning a significant number of medals at international competitions in 2021.
